{"id":26857,"date":"2026-04-26T10:18:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T15:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=26857"},"modified":"2026-04-26T10:18:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T15:18:00","slug":"beltrami-county-burglary-weapons-found","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/beltrami-county-burglary-weapons-found\/","title":{"rendered":"Beltrami County Burglary: Weapons Found"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Beltrami County<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Thief River Falls man is facing felony burglary charges after a reported break-in at a Beltrami County home.<\/p>\n<p>James Robert Johnson is charged in Beltrami County District Court with first-degree burglary.<\/p>\n<p>He is also charged with second-degree burglary of a dwelling.<\/p>\n<p>The case is filed in Minnesota\u2019s 9th Judicial District under court file 04-CR-26-794.<\/p>\n<h2>Burglary Report On Hidden Bay Drive<\/h2>\n<p>According to the complaint, deputies responded April 5, 2026, at about 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The report involved a home on Hidden Bay Drive Northeast in Beltrami County.<\/p>\n<p>A complainant, identified as S.P., told authorities she saw two males on surveillance video.<\/p>\n<p>She said the house should have been empty.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the former tenant had died about one week earlier.<\/p>\n<p>S.P. reported that two males entered the residence without bags.<\/p>\n<p>She said they later left with one bag each, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center; margin: 25px 0;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto; display: inline-block;\" src=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/JohnsonJames.png\" alt=\"Mugshot of James Robert Johnson\" \/><em>James Robert Johnson<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Bags Found Near Woods<\/h2>\n<p>Deputies found tracks entering and leaving Hidden Bay Drive, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The tracks also led around the residence.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities found a broken window on the east side of the home.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says the window appeared to be the entry point.<\/p>\n<p>Two bags were later found in the woods near Hay Creek Road and Hidden Bay Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The bags contained several items, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>Those items included a sword, blades, martial arts weapons, and frozen steaks.<\/p>\n<p>S.P. confirmed the items had belonged to the former tenant.<\/p>\n<h2>Suspect Located Nearby<\/h2>\n<p>Law enforcement later located Johnson at a Hay Creek Road address.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says Johnson matched one person seen on surveillance video.<\/p>\n<p>He allegedly had a gray beard, green hat, and leather jacket.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities also reported blood on Johnson\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint says that was consistent with breaking a window.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson was placed under arrest.<\/p>\n<p>During a search, authorities reported finding brass knuckles in his pocket.<\/p>\n<p>They also reported finding a spring-loaded stiletto-style knife.<\/p>\n<p>The knife allegedly had a window-breaking attachment.<\/p>\n<h2>Felony Charges Filed<\/h2>\n<p>Johnson is charged under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.582\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Statute 609.582<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first-degree burglary charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>It also carries a possible $35,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n<p>The second-degree burglary charge carries up to 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>It also carries a possible $20,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are only accusations at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n<p>More case information may be available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mncourts.gov\/Access-Case-Records.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Chris Harper reporting for <a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TRF News<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) \u2014 A Thief River Falls man is facing felony burglary charges after a reported break-in at a Beltrami County home.
