Callaway<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Donna Jean Knutson, 35, of rural Callaway, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court.<\/p>\n

Knutson was sentenced on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process.<\/p>\n

A felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle was dropped under a plea agreement.<\/p>\n

According to court records, the case began on July 26, 2025.<\/p>\n

A White Earth police officer was sent to a Callaway residence.<\/p>\n

The call involved reported disorderly behavior at a family gathering.<\/p>\n

When the officer arrived, he spoke with a man at the residence.<\/p>\n

The man said Knutson had been causing problems.<\/p>\n

He also said Knutson had been asked to leave the property.<\/p>\n

Court records say Knutson and her boyfriend were on the west side of the yard.<\/p>\n

Her boyfriend was related to the man who first spoke with the officer.<\/p>\n

As the officer walked toward them, Knutson was sitting in a red pickup.<\/p>\n

The complaint says she began driving toward the officer.<\/p>\n

The officer stepped aside to avoid being struck by the pickup.<\/p>\n

Officer Ordered Pickup To Stop<\/h2>\n

The driver\u2019s side window was down, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The officer told Knutson to stop the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Court records say Knutson looked at the officer and said, \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then drove past the officer through the yard.<\/p>\n

As the officer returned to his squad car, the boyfriend began yelling.<\/p>\n

He also chased after the officer, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The officer gave several commands for the boyfriend to back up and stop.<\/p>\n

Court records say the boyfriend kept following the officer and yelling.<\/p>\n

Second Arrest Reported At Scene<\/h2>\n

Family members tried to get the boyfriend to stop.<\/p>\n

He then allegedly screamed and swore at three family members.<\/p>\n

As the officer walked back, he heard a man say, \u201cback up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The officer turned and saw the boyfriend approach the man with closed fists.<\/p>\n

Another family member stepped between them.<\/p>\n

The officer then drew a Taser and ordered the boyfriend to back up.<\/p>\n

The boyfriend eventually complied and walked away.<\/p>\n

The officer then told him to stop because he was under arrest.<\/p>\n

Court records say the boyfriend refused at first.<\/p>\n

He later stopped after the officer again drew the Taser.<\/p>\n

He was arrested without further incident.<\/p>\n

Sentence Ordered In Becker County<\/h2>\n

On March 20, Becker County District Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Knutson.<\/p>\n

She received 90 days in jail, stayed for one year.<\/p>\n

Knutson was fined $50, plus $160 in court fees.<\/p>\n

She was also placed on unsupervised probation for one year.<\/p>\n
