{"id":26221,"date":"2026-04-22T06:07:40","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T11:07:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=26221"},"modified":"2026-04-22T06:07:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T11:07:40","slug":"genevieve-knott-80","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/genevieve-knott-80\/","title":{"rendered":"Genevieve Knott, 80"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<p>Red Lake Falls \u2013 Genevieve Knott, of Red Lake Falls, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family singing \u201cAmazing Grace.\u201d<br \/>\nGenevieve Louise Hoefer was born January 1, 1946, at St. Francis Hospital, Crookston, the daughter of Leo and Veronica (Schindler) Hoefer. She was baptized at St. Mary\u2019s Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Red Lake Falls. She attended country school and Lafayette High School.<br \/>\nOn May 15, 1965, Genevieve was united in marriage to Orville Edward Knott. They were married for nearly 61 years.<br \/>\nThree days after graduation, Genevieve started work at Red Lake County State Bank, Red Lake Falls, and worked on and off for 18 years while working on the farm and raising their four children. She worked on the farm beside her husband, doing everything that needed to be done to take care of the animals, crops, and her massive gardens. For years, Genevieve and her friend Theresa wallpapered and painted. In 2000, she started at Clearwood Group Home and ODC, until 2011, when she retired.<br \/>\nGenevieve lived a life defined by faith, hard work, and deep devotion to the people around her. No matter how full her days were, she found ways to care for others \u2013through her service, her steady presence, and the life she created. Genevieve was a member of St. Joseph\u2019s Church, Red Lake Falls, where she became the first Eucharistic Minister for the parish, a member of Catholic Daughters of America, was a 4-H Leader, served with Northwest Regional Development Full Commission, also served on the Board of Aging and served as Red Lake Falls Township Clerk for over 30 years.<br \/>\nShe enjoyed her grandkids and great-grandkids, attending their many activities, jelly making, canning (especially pickles), sewing and made over 200 blankets, knitting, crocheting, reading, traveling, gardening, coffee parties, evening card games, cooking, baking, especially cakes for all occasions, and very much enjoyed time with family and friends.<br \/>\nShe is survived by husband, Orville of Red Lake Falls; children, Sheila (Brad) Klose, Jay (Jill) Knott, Randy (Jennifer) Knott and Justin (Kelsey) Knott; grandchildren, Joshua Knott, Casey (Joey) Dondelinger, Cody (Alissa) Knott, Paige (Jeremy) Koepplin, Reiley (Jordan) Lindberg and Sierra (Trevor) Bushman, Elaina, Anna, Lillie, Emersen and Bridger Knott; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Tenley Knott, Brooklyn Leines and Easton Dondelinger, Emmylou and Madeline Knott, Teagan and Sloane Koepplin, (baby Bushman due in August); brothers and sisters, Mary (LeRoy) Pazdernik, sister-in-law Cindy Bannerman, Yvonne Schue, Duane (Terri) Hoefer, Timothy (Peggy) Hoefer and Katherine (Tom) Thedens, and sister-in-law, Barb Hoefer.<br \/>\nGenevieve was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Veronica Hoefer; grandparents, John and Mary Schindler and John and Gertrude Hoefer; and brothers, Gerald, Henry and Russell Hoefer; and brother-in-law, Tom Schue.<br \/>\nMass of Christian Burial was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at St Joseph\u2019s Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, with visitation starting one hour before Mass.<br \/>\nwww.johnsonfuneralservice.com<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Red Lake Falls \u2013 Genevieve Knott, of Red Lake Falls, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family singing \u201cAmazing Grace.\u201d Genevieve Louise Hoefer was born January 1, 1946, at St. Francis Hospital, Crookston, the daughter of Leo and Veronica (Schindler) Hoefer.
