Moorhead<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a> \u2014 A Fargo man is facing a felony charge after prosecutors say he forced his way into an occupied apartment in Moorhead during an overnight domestic incident.<\/p>\n

According to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota Court Records Online<\/a>, Melford Ernest Trefethren Jr., 27, is charged with first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling. Minnesota law says that charge can carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $35,000, or both. The statute is listed under Minnesota Statute 609.582<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What the Complaint Says<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the case began on October 15, 2025, at about 12:36 a.m. Officers were sent to an apartment in Moorhead on a report of a domestic burglary.<\/p>\n

Investigators say the woman inside, identified in court records as A.G., told authorities that her former boyfriend, Trefethren, called her and accused her of having another man in the apartment.<\/p>\n

The complaint says A.G. denied that claim. It says Trefethren then went to the apartment and started banging on the door.<\/p>\n

According to the filing, A.G. told him several times to leave. Prosecutors allege he did not leave. Instead, they say he used his shoulder to force the door open.<\/p>\n

Court records say the door showed damage that matched forced entry. Prosecutors allege Trefethren then pushed his way inside and searched the apartment.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he made a statement that he knew someone was inside and that he was going to find them. The filing says he left after A.G. told him police were on the way.<\/p>\n

Charge Filed in Clay County<\/h2>\n
