Ogema<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Dustin Eugene Jack, 21, of rural Ogema, has pleaded guilty in a Becker County case involving an officer assault.<\/p>\n

Jack was charged in Becker County District Court with felony fourth-degree assault on a police officer. He was also charged with felony obstructing the legal process.<\/p>\n

According to court records, the case began on March 22. A White Earth police officer responded to a disturbance call at Jack\u2019s rural Ogema residence.<\/p>\n

Jack\u2019s mother, Glenda Jean Anderson, 54, of rural Ogema, was also present. She has also been charged in the incident.<\/p>\n

Anderson told authorities that Jack had been drinking. She also said there had been an altercation at the home.<\/p>\n

Disturbance Call Leads To Struggle<\/h2>\n

Court records say Jack walked toward the officer from inside the house. He then allegedly pushed the officer and made an offensive racial statement.<\/p>\n

Jack is accused of taking a fighting stance. He then allegedly punched the officer on the left side of the face.<\/p>\n

The officer reported the fight to dispatch. He then drew a Taser and pointed it at Jack.<\/p>\n

As the officer tried to control Jack, Anderson allegedly interfered. Court records say she grabbed at the Taser several times.<\/p>\n

Anderson allegedly told the officer to stop because Jack was her son. She is charged with one gross misdemeanor count and one misdemeanor count.<\/p>\n

Knife Mentioned During Incident<\/h2>\n

After the officer put away the Taser, the struggle continued. Anderson then said Jack had a knife, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The officer and Jack moved toward the porch during the struggle. The officer brought Jack to the ground and saw him reach toward a pocket.<\/p>\n

The officer then saw a black knife with a silver blade nearby. Court records say it was inches from Jack\u2019s reach.<\/p>\n

As Jack allegedly tried to grab the knife, the officer felt Jack bite his leg. The officer grabbed the knife and threw it off the porch.<\/p>\n

A Becker County sheriff\u2019s deputy arrived soon after. Authorities were then able to handcuff Jack.<\/p>\n

Officer Treated After Arrest<\/h2>\n

After the incident, the officer reported pain and began dry heaving. A deputy noticed swelling near the officer\u2019s eye.<\/p>\n

The officer also had red marks on his neck. He was advised to seek medical care.<\/p>\n

At the hospital, the officer learned he had a concussion. He also had a swollen eye and a cut on his elbow.<\/p>\n

At an April 10 plea hearing, Jack pleaded guilty on a Norgaard basis. That means he does not remember the event but does not claim innocence.<\/p>\n

Jack\u2019s sentencing is set for June 15 before District Judge Gretchen D. Thilmony.<\/p>\n

Anderson was released without bail on March 24. Her conditions include no use of alcohol or drugs.<\/p>\n

Anderson\u2019s next court appearance is set for June 1 before Thilmony.<\/p>\n
