Beltrami County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 John Deloss Turner<\/strong> of Federal Dam has been charged after a traffic stop in Beltrami County, according to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota District Court.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Turner faces two gross misdemeanor counts. One count alleges second-degree DWI. The other alleges fifth-degree drug possession. The charges stem from an April 6, 2026 stop.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Led To Arrest<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, authorities saw a dark Ford leave Pete\u2019s Place Gas Station on Highway 2. A records check showed Turner had an active warrant out of Cass County. That led to a traffic stop in Beltrami County.<\/p>\n

Court records say Turner showed signs of impairment during the stop. The complaint says he had glossy eyes and was sweating. It also says he struggled during field sobriety testing.<\/p>\n

Authorities arrested Turner on the warrant and on suspicion of impaired driving, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

Items Found In Vehicle<\/h2>\n

The complaint says investigators searched the vehicle after the arrest. They reported finding two short straws with white residue. Court records also say they found a book with a hidden safe inside.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, the safe contained drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, and a blue powdery substance. The filing also says passenger Larissa Fisher told investigators Turner bought the book that day and had been using.<\/p>\n

At the jail, authorities said Turner\u2019s pupils were constricted and did not react to light. The complaint says a powder test came back positive for methamphetamine. The substance was then sent for further testing.<\/p>\n

The filing also says investigators obtained a warrant for a blood or urine sample as part of the DWI case.<\/p>\n

Charges And Court Record<\/h2>\n

The DWI count was enhanced to second degree because the complaint cites two prior DWI convictions. The current case was filed in Minnesota District Court<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The DWI allegation references Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>. The drug count references Minnesota Statute 152.025<\/a>. Drug testing in Minnesota cases is often handled through the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A criminal complaint contains allegations. It is not a conviction. Turner is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
