Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 A Cass Lake man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after an April 4 incident at Walmart in Bemidji. Prosecutors say Dylan Charles Fairbanks<\/strong> damaged store property and later failed a breath test. The charges were filed in Beltrami County District Court.<\/p>\n

What the complaint says<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, officers were sent to Walmart in Bemidji at about 2:30 p.m. on April 4, 2026. The call involved a group fight inside the store. Dispatch then reported that several people left in a blue Hyundai Sonata.<\/p>\n

The complaint says store asset protection worker Derrick Vigil told authorities that one suspect had long hair. Vigil said that suspect knocked over a mannequin and ripped clothing while leaving the store. The complaint says the mannequin was destroyed. It says the loss was more than $2,000.<\/p>\n

Fairbanks is charged with first-degree property damage<\/a>. He is also charged with fourth-degree DWI<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Traffic stop and breath test<\/h2>\n

The complaint says the Hyundai was found about 15 minutes later in Bemidji. Fairbanks was identified as the driver. Investigators also said he was identified as the person who damaged the mannequin.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Fairbanks denied being at Walmart. The complaint also says he showed signs of alcohol use. Officers reported watery eyes and the odor of alcohol. No roadside sobriety tests were done because of deep slushy snow.<\/p>\n

At the Beltrami County Jail, the complaint says field sobriety testing was completed. A preliminary breath test showed an alcohol concentration of .113, according to the filing. A later breath test showed .10. The complaint says that test was taken within two hours of the stop.<\/p>\n

Case status<\/h2>\n

Fairbanks, born Aug. 15, 1999, is listed in court records as living in Cass Lake. The complaint also lists past convictions. Those listed include firearm-related cases and a fourth-degree burglary case.<\/p>\n
