Thief River Falls<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) Authorities said the case began on Feb. 18. That day, police received a report involving alleged contact on Snapchat with a 13-year-old boy. Teie has been summoned to appear in court. The case remains pending.<\/p>\n

Damian Marshall Teie, 29, of Thief River Falls, has been charged with felony electronic solicitation of children, according to a criminal complaint filed April 1.<\/p>\n

What the complaint says<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the boy told police that Teie had added him on Snapchat at random. Investigators said the chat first appeared normal. The exchange then turned sexual, according to court records.<\/p>\n

The complaint said Teie allegedly asked the child sexual questions. The boy told him his age during the exchange, the complaint said. Investigators alleged the messages continued after that point.<\/p>\n

Authorities also alleged Teie asked questions about the boy\u2019s underwear and other personal topics. While an officer reviewed the conversation, the complaint said Teie allegedly sent a sexually explicit image. Court records said he also sent a written message with that image.<\/p>\n

Statement to investigators<\/h2>\n

On Feb. 20, Teie gave a statement to law enforcement, according to the complaint. Investigators said he admitted to adding the child on Snapchat and sending inappropriate messages.<\/p>\n

Teie told investigators he did not know the boy was 13 at first, the complaint said. He allegedly said he removed the boy from Snapchat after learning his age.<\/p>\n

The complaint also said Teie admitted sending another explicit image weeks earlier. That image allegedly showed him involved in a sex act with another person.<\/p>\n

Prior case also listed<\/h2>\n

The complaint said Teie told investigators he had been arrested before for sending an inappropriate photo to a minor. Court records also referenced a 2019 case.<\/p>\n

In that earlier matter, the complaint said Teie previously pleaded guilty to a felony stalking charge involving a victim under 18 and sexual or aggressive intent. The complaint added that offense was later deemed a misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 609.13<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Electronic solicitation cases are handled in Minnesota district court. Public court information is available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>. Online safety information is also available through the Snapchat Safety Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As with all criminal cases, the charge is only an allegation unless proven in court.<\/p>\n
