Fargo<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Fargo restaurant manager is facing a felony theft charge after prosecutors said more than $30,000 was taken from a local business.<\/p>\n

According to court records, Thanakrit Iamsamang<\/strong> appeared in Cass County District Court<\/a> on Monday, April 6. He is charged with one felony count of theft.<\/p>\n

What Court Documents Allege<\/h2>\n

Court documents say Iamsamang took $31,659<\/strong> from Leela Thai Cuisine<\/strong> between Oct. 2 and April 1.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the money was taken through 36 transactions on a company credit card.<\/p>\n

The card was meant for business costs. Those costs included bills and restaurant supplies.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Iamsamang told police he used the card to pay personal debts.<\/p>\n

The charge centers on losses reported by the restaurant owner.<\/p>\n

The case remains in the court system. A charge is only an accusation. Guilt must be proved in court.<\/p>\n

Restaurant Responds<\/h2>\n

Leela Thai Cuisine<\/strong> released a public statement after the allegations became known.<\/p>\n

The restaurant asked customers for patience, space, and understanding.<\/p>\n

Management said it wants to keep a calm dining setting for guests.<\/p>\n

The business also said workers may not be able to discuss the case in detail.<\/p>\n

Leela Thai thanked customers for their support during a difficult time.<\/p>\n

The restaurant added that it often has one server working each shift.<\/p>\n

Because of that, staff may have limited information while serving guests.<\/p>\n

Expansion Still Underway<\/h2>\n

Even with the criminal case, the restaurant is moving ahead with growth plans.<\/p>\n

Fargo building permit records show Leela Thai is in the middle of a $100,000 expansion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You can review local permit information through the City of Fargo Inspections Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The case has drawn attention because of the size of the alleged loss and the timing of the restaurant\u2019s expansion.<\/p>\n

More hearings may follow as the criminal case moves forward in Cass County.<\/p>\n
