Fargo<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) Andrew Sandvik<\/strong>, 47, has agreed to plead guilty in federal court after prosecutors said he made an online threat against President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

Court records show the plea agreement was signed on April 2. The filing became public on April 3. The agreement still must be accepted by a federal judge.<\/p>\n

Sandvik admitted he made a Facebook post in late August 2025. Prosecutors said the post threatened Trump. In the agreement, Sandvik admitted he made the post knowingly and on purpose.<\/p>\n

Threat Case Moved Ahead in Federal Court<\/h2>\n

Sandvik was arrested on November 6, 2025, at his mother\u2019s home in south Fargo. Investigators said he had been living in a camper in the backyard.<\/p>\n

Authorities had been investigating Sandvik since early September 2025. Investigators first looked into posts that mentioned violence toward local police and members of his family.<\/p>\n

On September 17, investigators found more threatening posts. Those posts were aimed at Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and FBI Director Kash Patel.<\/p>\n

Friends and relatives also told police they were worried about Sandvik\u2019s mental health. Investigators were also told he had airsoft guns painted black to look like real firearms.<\/p>\n

Psychiatric Exam and Sentencing Range<\/h2>\n

Judge Alice Senechal approved a defense request for a psychiatric exam on November 19, 2025. The report was later issued on March 23, 2026.<\/p>\n

Under the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence at the low end of the guideline range. That range was reported as 10 to 16 months.<\/p>\n

The reported maximum penalty is five years in prison. The plea deal could also lead to the dismissal of remaining counts.<\/p>\n

No date has been announced for Sandvik to formally enter his guilty plea. A sentencing date also has not been scheduled.<\/p>\n
