Crookston, Polk County (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 A Crookston man now faces two criminal charges after a March 22 incident in Polk County, according to a complaint filed in Minnesota District Court.<\/p>\n

Zachary Henry Bye<\/strong>, 33, is charged with felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor domestic assault. The complaint says the case involves a family or household member identified as K.S.<\/p>\n

What the Charges Say<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, prosecutors allege Bye intentionally restrained K.S. without consent and without lawful authority. The complaint also says he acted to cause fear of immediate bodily harm or death.<\/p>\n

The felony count cites Minnesota Statute 609.255<\/a>. The misdemeanor count cites Minnesota Statute 609.2242<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What Investigators Allege<\/h2>\n

Court records say officers met K.S. at Riverview Health in Crookston on March 24. The complaint says they saw bruises, scratches, and cuts on her arms, wrists, neck, and head.<\/p>\n

K.S. told investigators she had resumed a relationship with Bye. She said he assaulted her and held her against her will on March 22.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, K.S. said Bye dropped her off near her home, ran after her, and dragged her to his vehicle. She said he then took her to his home on Hoven Lane in Crookston.<\/p>\n

The complaint says K.S. tried to leave many times. She said Bye kept stopping her. She also said he grabbed her by the neck, ripped her clothing, taped her hands, and slammed her head into concrete.<\/p>\n

What Bye Told Investigators<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Bye gave a voluntary statement during a later search. He claimed K.S. had assaulted him and said he acted in self-defense.<\/p>\n

According to the filing, Bye said an argument started over a lost vape. He said both got out of the vehicle. He said he broke the vape after finding it.<\/p>\n

Bye also told investigators he pulled on K.S.\u2019s sweater and tied her up once with orange electrical tape, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Evidence Listed in the Complaint<\/h2>\n

Investigators later searched the home and vehicle after getting a warrant. The complaint says officers found a torn bra on the property and a small roll of orange electrical tape in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Bye was arrested and taken to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center. The case appears to be moving through the Minnesota Court Records Online system<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All charges are allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
