Prosecutors charged Maxwell Charles Anderson, 39, of Greenbush<\/strong>, with fifth-degree drug possession. The charge alleges he possessed methamphetamine in Roseau County. Court records list the case in the Ninth Judicial District.<\/p>\n

Charge Filed in Roseau County<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the case stems from a traffic stop near State Highway 11<\/strong> and County Road 28<\/strong>. A state trooper stopped a Chevrolet Silverado after seeing that its third brake light was not working.<\/p>\n

The driver was identified as Anderson. The complaint states that his driver\u2019s license was expired. The report also says he showed signs of impairment during the stop.<\/p>\n

After field sobriety testing, Anderson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. A later search of the pickup led to the discovery of a zippered case between the driver\u2019s seat and center console, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

What Investigators Found<\/h2>\n

Inside the case, authorities reported finding a smoking device and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine. The complaint states that the substance later field tested positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the substance weighed about 0.85 grams<\/strong> on a digital scale.<\/p>\n

Possible Penalty<\/h2>\n

The charge is listed under Minnesota Statute 152.025<\/a>. Court records show the offense is a gross misdemeanor. The listed maximum penalty is 364 days in jail<\/strong>, a $3,000 fine<\/strong>, or both.<\/p>\n
