Austin<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) A Thief River Falls man is facing serious felony charges in Mower County. Cody Scott Adams<\/strong>, 25, appeared in court Thursday morning. He was charged with 10 felony counts tied to child sexual abuse material, or CSAM.<\/p>\n

According to the court complaint, the charges involve alleged possession of pornographic material involving children under age 14. The case followed a long investigation led by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension<\/a>. The inquiry began in October 2024 after a cybertip from Snapchat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Investigation Began With Cybertip<\/h2>\n

Investigators said Snapchat sent files to authorities in November 2024. Those files allegedly showed several suspected CSAM images. The complaint says selfie-style images also matched Cody Scott Adams and a driver\u2019s license photo.<\/p>\n

In early December 2024, investigators executed a search warrant at Adams\u2019 home in the 700 block of First Drive NW in Austin. Court records say Adams told investigators he understood why they were there. The complaint also says he admitted he previously had explicit images of adults and children.<\/p>\n

What Court Records Allege<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Adams also admitted receiving CSAM through Snapchat. Investigators say he also admitted sending such images to another user in 2019. Court records further allege he had sexual conversations with minors as young as 15.<\/p>\n

However, investigators said the files found on seized devices were more serious. The complaint says those files included material involving pre-pubescent children. That detail became a key part of the charging decision.<\/p>\n

Next Court Date Set<\/h2>\n

Adams is scheduled to return to court for an initial appearance on April 13 through the Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>. Charges are accusations only. The case remains pending in court.<\/p>\n

This case links Thief River Falls and Austin through the accused man\u2019s residence history. Authorities have not announced any additional charges at this time. More court action is expected later this month.<\/p>\n
