West Fargo<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) police and fire crews searched the Sheyenne River late at night after a report of a person on a bridge.<\/p>\n

The call came from the 2400 block of Sheyenne Street. Officers arrived at about 10:17 p.m. They reached the area within two minutes. When they got there, they saw no one on the bridge. They also found no one in the water.<\/p>\n

Search Lasted More Than Two Hours<\/h2>\n

The search quickly grew into a large rescue effort. Firefighters joined police soon after the first officers arrived. Crews used rescue boats to check the river. A drone unit scanned the area from above. A K-9 unit searched the riverbanks nearby.<\/p>\n

Officials said crews kept working for more than two hours. They searched both the water and the nearby land. The operation covered the river and surrounding shoreline. Despite the long search, no person was found.<\/p>\n

No Missing Person Report Filed<\/h2>\n

Officials said no missing person reports had been filed by the time the search ended. That detail matters. It means crews had no confirmed identity to connect to the report. It also means investigators still do not know whether anyone entered the water.<\/p>\n

The search was later called off. West Fargo police said the case remains open. Investigators may still review the call, witness information, and any video or other evidence from the area.<\/p>\n

Several Agencies Helped<\/h2>\n

Several emergency agencies responded to help. They included the West Fargo Police Department<\/a> and the West Fargo Fire Department<\/a>. Also assisting were Sanford Ambulance<\/a>, Valley Water Rescue<\/a>, West Fargo Rural Fire Department, and Southern Valley Fire & Rescue.<\/p>\n

At this point, officials have not said that anyone was hurt. They also have not confirmed that anyone was ever in the river. The case remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
