Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 A Bemidji-area woman is facing a new felony charge in Beltrami County. Court records say Waaban Michelle Jones<\/strong> is accused of failing to meet predatory offender registration rules.<\/p>\n

According to a criminal complaint, Jones was charged under Minnesota Statute 243.166<\/a>. The charge says she knowingly failed to fulfill a registration requirement between Sept. 1, 2025, and Feb. 25, 2026.<\/p>\n

What the Complaint Says<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Jones was required to register and complete weekly check-ins while listed as homeless in Bemidji. Authorities alleged she did not complete those check-ins after being in custody in August 2025.<\/p>\n

Investigators also stated that Jones had not been keeping scheduled supervision meetings. The complaint says her whereabouts were unknown for a period of time. It also states that an arrest warrant had been issued before her arrest in February.<\/p>\n

Arrest in Beltrami County<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, family members called for medical help on Feb. 25, 2026, at a home on Archery Road SW. The filing says Jones was revived after an overdose report. It says she then left the scene.<\/p>\n

Deputies later arrested Jones on the outstanding warrant as she walked away from the residence. She was taken to the Beltrami County Law Enforcement Center after a medical check, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The charge is a felony. The complaint lists a possible sentence of two to five years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both. A criminal charge is only an accusation. Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
