According to a criminal complaint, Reamer faces one felony count of third-degree controlled substance crime in a prohibited zone.<\/p>\n

What The Complaint Says<\/h2>\n

Court records say police were looking into an attempted break-in at Pop\u2019s Liquor from the night before.<\/p>\n

Investigators identified Reamer as a suspect after reviewing store security images.<\/p>\n

Later that morning, officers were told Reamer was back at the store.<\/p>\n

They found him in a bathroom stall at about 7:43 a.m.<\/p>\n

His clothes, backpack, and an open bottle of vodka were on the floor, the complaint said.<\/p>\n

Police asked if the backpack held any weapons.<\/p>\n

Reamer said it contained a meth pipe, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Police then found the pipe.<\/p>\n

A field test on residue in the pipe was positive for methamphetamine, the complaint said.<\/p>\n

Why The Charge Is More Serious<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Reamer with third-degree controlled substance crime in a prohibited zone.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Pop\u2019s Liquor sits within one city block of Sacred Heart School<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That location falls inside a school zone under Minnesota Statute 152.023<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The charge is a felony.<\/p>\n

The listed maximum penalty is 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n

Statement To Police<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Reamer later gave a voluntary statement.<\/p>\n

He said he came to East Grand Forks for treatment about three weeks earlier.<\/p>\n

He said he left the treatment program.<\/p>\n

He also said he was homeless and had no phone or mailing address.<\/p>\n

He admitted the pipe was his, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

He also said he had used meth for about 10 years.<\/p>\n

The case was filed in Polk County District Court<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As of the filing, the complaint states there was probable cause for the charge.<\/p>\n
