She is also charged with driving after cancellation as inimical to public safety.

The complaint says three children under 16 were inside the vehicle during the stop. Prosecutors also cite a prior DWI-related conviction from 2024.

What the Complaint Says Happened

According to the complaint, tribal police saw a gray Volvo leave the Family Dollar area in Cass Lake at about 9:58 p.m. The vehicle did not have license plates.

The complaint says the Volvo turned onto Aspen Avenue. It then pulled into the grass north of U.S. Highway 2. Police then made the stop.

Kamrowski allegedly told police she did not have a driver’s license. The complaint also says she did not have proof of insurance.

Signs of Alleged Impairment

The complaint says Kamrowski was overly talkative and fidgety. It also says she avoided eye contact. Her eyes were described as glassy.

Police also noted unusual pupil response and rapid eye movement, according to the complaint. Officers then used field sobriety tests during the stop.

The complaint says Kamrowski showed several signs of impairment during those tests. A preliminary breath test later showed 0.00 alcohol, according to the complaint.

Because of that result, the police suspected drug impairment. The complaint says Kamrowski stated she had used the day before. She allegedly said she believed the substance was cocaine.

Charges and Next Steps

The first count alleges controlled-substance DWI. Prosecutors say two aggravating factors were present. They cite the children in the vehicle and a prior 2024 DWI test refusal conviction.

The second count alleges Kamrowski drove while her license was canceled as inimical to public safety. Both charges are listed as gross misdemeanors in the complaint.

The complaint says police arranged for the children to be taken home. Investigators later obtained a warrant for blood or urine testing. A blood sample was then collected at a hospital, according to the complaint.

The case remains pending in court. A criminal charge is an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Readers can review Minnesota court record access information here.
