Beltrami County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a> \u2014 A Beltrami County criminal complaint says Amando Morales<\/strong> faces a felony check forgery charge after a check was allegedly changed and cashed in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, the case was filed in the Minnesota District Court in Beltrami County District Court<\/a>. The charge is check forgery under Minnesota Statute 609.631<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What The Complaint Says<\/h2>\n

The complaint says K.B. mailed a personal check on May 5, 2025. The check was written for $1,606. It was meant for Baker Heating & Air Conditioning<\/a> in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

Investigators say K.B. later got a mobile banking alert. That alert showed the check had been cashed on May 15, 2025. The amount was listed as $2,490.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, a review of the check showed changes. It was no longer made out to Baker Heating. Instead, it was made out to Amando Morales for $2,490.<\/p>\n

The complaint says a copy of the check also showed Morales\u2019s name and driver\u2019s license number on the back. Investigators said the check was cashed at First National Bank Bemidji<\/a> at about 5:07 p.m. on May 15.<\/p>\n

Video Review And Case Details<\/h2>\n

According to the filing, the bank video was reviewed by law enforcement. Investigators said the video showed Morales cashing the check.<\/p>\n

The complaint was submitted by an official with the Beltrami County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a>. The filing states the case involves an alleged intent to defraud.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege the forged check was used, or was meant to be used, to obtain more than $2,500 in property or services. The complaint lists the case as a felony. It says the maximum penalty is 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n
