Cody Lee Hedstrom<\/strong> is charged in Norman County District Court with felony domestic assault. Prosecutors say the incident happened on February 26, 2026. The charge says Hedstrom intentionally caused, or tried to cause, bodily harm to a household member.<\/p>\n

What the complaint says<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the case began with a 911 hang-up call from a rural Norman County home. The victim later called back and reported a domestic assault.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Hedstrom was intoxicated during the incident. It says the victim told authorities Hedstrom bit him while they were in bed. The victim also said Hedstrom chased him and bit him more times. The complaint says authorities saw bite marks on the victim\u2019s arms.<\/p>\n

The filing says Hedstrom and the victim had been in a romantic relationship. It says they had lived together for about four months. Under Minnesota law, that can place them under the family or household member definition.<\/p>\n

Why the case is a felony<\/h2>\n

The complaint also lists two prior qualified domestic violence-related convictions within the past ten years. Those prior cases are cited as court files 44-CR-19-244 and 44-CR-20-276.<\/p>\n

Because of those prior cases, prosecutors filed this matter as a felony. Under Minnesota\u2019s domestic assault law<\/a>, repeat domestic assault cases can be charged at a higher level.<\/p>\n
