The charge was filed in Polk County District Court. The case number is 60-CR-26-283.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop in Crookston<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the case began just after midnight on March 4, 2026. A state trooper was on patrol in Crookston. The trooper saw a silver Chrysler 300 drift over the center line. The vehicle also had expired registration from February 2026.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the driver was Robert Rosas Jr. Authorities said he had slurred speech. They also reported a smell of alcohol from the vehicle. The complaint says Rosas admitted he had been drinking.<\/p>\n

Field Tests and Arrest<\/h2>\n

Investigators then asked Rosas to step out for field sobriety tests. The complaint says he showed several signs of impairment. On the eye test, authorities reported clues in both eyes. During the walk-and-turn test, the complaint says he lost balance. During the one-leg stand, authorities said he put his foot down.<\/p>\n

A preliminary breath test was then given. The complaint says that the test showed a reading of .204. Rosas was arrested after the roadside tests, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

Reported Breath Test Result<\/h2>\n

Authorities then took Rosas to the Northwest Regional Correctional Center in Crookston. There, the complaint says he agreed to a formal breath test. That later test reported a result of .14 at 1:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors charged Rosas with third-degree driving while impaired. That charge can apply when one aggravating factor is present. The complaint says Rosas had a prior qualified DWI conviction from 2021.<\/p>\n

What the Charge Means<\/h2>\n

The complaint lists the charge as a gross misdemeanor. It also lists a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail. The listed fine is up to $3,000. A final outcome will depend on the court process.<\/p>\n
