Roseau County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Lamesha Keneisha Spivey<\/strong>, 28, of Roseau, has been charged after an incident at Badger School, according to a criminal complaint filed in Roseau County District Court.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the case stems from a February 23, 2026, report at the school. Authorities were called after staff reported that a parent was using excessive discipline on a child.<\/p>\n

What The Complaint Alleges<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, school staff asked for law enforcement at about 12:34 p.m. Deputies were told a parent was excessively disciplining a child inside the school.<\/p>\n

The complaint says a school administrator saw Spivey strike her 5-year-old daughter several times with a belt in the elementary girls\u2019 bathroom. The child was reportedly clothed during the incident.<\/p>\n

Investigators also allege the discipline caused a disturbance inside the school. The complaint says the school went into a soft lockdown after the incident.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Spivey was later told to leave the building but refused. Law enforcement then arrived and spoke with her at the school.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Spivey admitted she came to the school to discipline her child. Court records also state that deputies later arrested her without incident.<\/p>\n

Charges Filed In Roseau County<\/h2>\n

Spivey is charged with gross misdemeanor, malicious punishment of a child, misdemeanor fifth-degree domestic assault, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.<\/p>\n

Under Minnesota Statute 609.377<\/a>, malicious punishment of a child can carry up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine when the alleged harm is less than substantial bodily harm.<\/p>\n

The other charges were filed under Minnesota Statute 609.2242<\/a> and Minnesota Statute 609.72<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What Happened Next<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, Roseau County Social Services was contacted during the response. The complaint says the children were later placed on a protective hold.<\/p>\n

The incident remains a criminal case, and the charges are only allegations at this stage. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
