Mahnomen County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Prosecutors filed new charges against David William Jack III<\/strong>, 21. The case follows a reported home assault in Naytahwaush.<\/p>\n

What the complaint alleges<\/h2>\n

The complaint says a deputy went to a home on New Circle Drive. The call came at about 12:30 p.m. on February 27, 2026. The report was an assault inside the residence.<\/p>\n

David Burnette told the deputy that Jack walked into the house. Burnette said Jack was not invited. Burnette said he told Jack to leave.<\/p>\n

Burnette said Jack walked down the hall toward a bedroom. Burnette then heard screaming from that room, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the deputy found Jack outside nearby. The deputy detained him while checking on the report.<\/p>\n

The person listed as RMA was checked by ambulance staff, the complaint says. RMA told the deputy he was asleep in his room. He said he woke up to Jack attacking him.<\/p>\n

RMA said he was hit above his left temple. He estimated he was hit seven or eight times. RMA said he swung once in self-defense. He said he hurt his hand during that swing.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the deputy saw bruising and swelling on RMA\u2019s head. The deputy also saw swelling on RMA\u2019s left hand.<\/p>\n

Burnette told the deputy that Jack left after the assault, the complaint says. Beth Burnette also told the deputy that Jack had no consent to enter.<\/p>\n

Charges and court record<\/h2>\n

Jack is charged with first-degree burglary. Prosecutors say an assault happened during an unlawful entry. He is also charged with fifth-degree assault for alleged bodily harm.<\/p>\n

Court records list the case in Mahnomen County District Court. The court file number is 44-CR-26-110. Charges are allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent unless convicted.<\/p>\n
