Court papers say a Brainerd man faces new DWI charges after a stop near Baxter.<\/p>\n

Devron Lee Blood<\/strong>, 36, is charged with gross misdemeanor controlled-substance DWI in Crow Wing County District Court.<\/p>\n

He also faces a revocation charge tied to an ignition interlock.<\/p>\n

A third count alleges he failed to show proof of insurance.<\/p>\n

The case is filed as Court File 18-CR-26-727.<\/p>\n

Traffic stop near Baxter<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, a deputy received a Flock Safety<\/a> alert before dawn on Feb. 23, 2026.<\/p>\n

The alert flagged a vehicle tied to a revoked Minnesota driving status.<\/p>\n

The deputy later saw a gold Cadillac Eldorado on Highway 371<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the deputy recognized Blood as the driver.<\/p>\n

Court papers say the Cadillac weaved and crossed the fog line.<\/p>\n

The deputy stopped the vehicle around 4:41 a.m. near Highland Scenic Road.<\/p>\n

Signs of impairment<\/h2>\n

The deputy reported that Blood moved erratically in the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n

The complaint says his speech was fast and hard to follow.<\/p>\n

The deputy also reported sweating and a pale look.<\/p>\n

Court papers say a passenger held a glass pipe.<\/p>\n

The deputy said Blood mentioned \u201cany bullshit\u201d in a remark.<\/p>\n

The deputy wrote he took it as drug talk.<\/p>\n

During checks, the deputy confirmed Blood\u2019s license was revoked, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Court papers also say Blood was required to use an ignition interlock.<\/p>\n

Blood could not show proof of insurance, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The deputy asked about recent drug use, court papers say.<\/p>\n

Blood reported methamphetamine use two to three days earlier.<\/p>\n

He also said meth might still be in his system.<\/p>\n

Field tests and arrest<\/h2>\n

The complaint says Blood became angry and yelled.<\/p>\n

He first said he could not do tests when sober.<\/p>\n

He later agreed, but did not follow directions, the deputy wrote.<\/p>\n

The deputy used a Modified Romberg test, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The deputy reported swaying, rigid muscles, and fluttering eyelids.<\/p>\n

Court papers also cite teeth grinding during the test.<\/p>\n

The deputy arrested Blood for DWI, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Essentia Health<\/a> in Brainerd for a blood or urine test.<\/p>\n

The test was ordered under a search warrant, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Results were pending in the court filing.<\/p>\n

The gross misdemeanor level cites Minnesota Statute 169A.26<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The insurance count cites Minnesota Statute 169.791<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Court papers cite a prior impaired-driving license loss dated Dec. 19, 2025.<\/p>\n
