What happened<\/h2>\n

Charging papers say the call came in just before 1 a.m. on February 21, 2026.<\/p>\n

A deputy found two vehicles on County Road 13 in rural Roseau County.<\/p>\n

One vehicle was towing a truck that had been in the south ditch.<\/p>\n

Deputies identified the driver as Jeran Earl Johnson, 21, of Roseau.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the truck had front-end damage and a front tire off the bead.<\/p>\n

Signs of impairment<\/h2>\n

While speaking with Johnson, the deputy saw a rifle on the driver\u2019s seat, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

The rifle was not in a case, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Johnson told deputies he drank alcohol about an hour earlier, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

The deputy reported watery eyes and the smell of alcohol.<\/p>\n

Johnson took field sobriety tests and failed them, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

A preliminary breath test showed 0.179, prosecutors allege.<\/p>\n

Arrest and test result<\/h2>\n

Johnson was arrested and taken to the Roseau County Jail, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

A breath test at the jail later showed 0.17, prosecutors allege.<\/p>\n

Firearm allegation<\/h2>\n

Deputies checked the rifle and listed it as a Tikka T3 .223.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the magazine was loaded with ammunition.<\/p>\n

Charges and court process<\/h2>\n

Johnson is charged with two gross misdemeanor counts of third-degree DWI.<\/p>\n

He also faces one misdemeanor count for illegal transportation of a firearm.<\/p>\n
