Polk County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Thief River Falls man died Saturday, Feb. 28, after a snowmobile crash in Gentilly Township.<\/p>\n

The Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> said deputies were sent to the crash at about 2 p.m.<\/p>\n

The operator was identified as Cody Teie<\/strong>, 33, of Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

He was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.<\/p>\n

What we know so far<\/h2>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said the crash happened in Gentilly Township, northeast of Gentilly.<\/p>\n

Officials did not release a specific address or trail location.<\/p>\n

They also did not describe what the snowmobile struck, if anything.<\/p>\n

Investigators have not said what caused Teie to lose control.<\/p>\n

Deputies did not say if road access or trail conditions affected the response.<\/p>\n

Teie was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.<\/p>\n

Crookston Area Ambulance<\/a> responded with deputies.<\/p>\n

Crews started life-saving efforts after they arrived.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol also assisted, according to the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said the University of North Dakota Forensic Pathology<\/a> team is assisting.<\/p>\n

Forensic pathologists help determine the cause and manner of death after sudden deaths.<\/p>\n
