Cass Lake, Cass County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) – Leah Renee Jacobs<\/strong>, 40, of Cass Lake, is charged after an incident on February 20, 2026.<\/p>\n

Jacobs is charged with felony fourth-degree assault on a peace officer. She is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction of legal process.<\/p>\n

What the complaint says<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, a Cass County Sheriff\u2019s deputy was sent to a residence in Cass Lake. The call was a removal request.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the deputy arrived at about 7:02 p.m. The deputy reported hearing yelling inside the home.<\/p>\n

A woman opened the door, and the deputy went inside. The complaint says Jacobs was in the kitchen by the back door.<\/p>\n

Authorities allege Jacobs tried to run up the stairs after seeing the deputy. The deputy ordered her to stop, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

The deputy grabbed Jacobs\u2019 arm to arrest her, according to the filing. The complaint says Jacobs grabbed a stair railing and resisted.<\/p>\n

After a struggle, the deputy brought Jacobs back down the stairs, the complaint states. The deputy then tried to escort her out through the kitchen.<\/p>\n

Spitting allegation and continued resistance<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors allege Jacobs spit on the deputy during the escort. The complaint says the spit struck the deputy on the right cheek.<\/p>\n

The complaint also alleges Jacobs kept resisting outside the stairway. Authorities say she sat down and pulled away from the deputy.<\/p>\n

A preliminary breath test was later administered, according to the complaint. The test result was reported as 0.174.<\/p>\n
