Crosslake, Crow Wing County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Merrifield man is facing felony drug charges and new impaired driving counts after a traffic stop in Crosslake.<\/p>\n

What the police say happened<\/h2>\n

Court records say an officer saw a driver fail to signal a turn onto County Road 16.<\/p>\n

The stop happened at about 5:27 p.m. on February 16, 2026, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Police identified the driver as Dustin Larry Campbell<\/strong>, 34, of Merrifield.<\/p>\n

The officer reported signs of impairment during the stop.<\/p>\n

Campbell said he had just been at a karate drop-off for his six-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n

Police then ran field sobriety tests and reported clues of impairment.<\/p>\n

Campbell agreed to a search of the vehicle, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Police say they found butane torches, marijuana, and a pipe used for methamphetamine inside the car.<\/p>\n

Police also asked Campbell to empty his pockets, and he agreed, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Officers say a fake bolt container held suspected methamphetamine.<\/p>\n

After a rights warning, Campbell allegedly said he had eaten methamphetamine earlier that day.<\/p>\n

Police arrested him and later sought a warrant for a urine test.<\/p>\n

Police say he provided a urine sample after the warrant was issued.<\/p>\n

Charges filed<\/h2>\n

Campbell is charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession.<\/p>\n

He also faces two gross misdemeanor counts of driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

The complaint cites a prior DWI conviction as an aggravating factor.<\/p>\n

The complaint also says a child under 16 was in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Court and bail<\/h2>\n

At an initial appearance, Judge Chuck Halverson set release with conditions at $0.<\/p>\n

The judge also set unconditional bail at $12,000.<\/p>\n

Charges are allegations, and Campbell is presumed innocent in court.<\/p>\n
