Osage, Becker County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) A woman died in a house fire early Wednesday in Osage.<\/p>\n

The fire happened in the Becker County community about 30 miles east of Detroit Lakes. Authorities were called shortly before sunrise.<\/p>\n

The fire was reported around 4:24 a.m. on February 18. The Becker County Sheriff\u2019s Office received the 911 call.<\/p>\n

Officials said a male resident escaped the home. He then flagged down a passing driver on Highway 34.<\/p>\n

The man told the driver that a woman might still be inside. The driver called for help.<\/p>\n

Crews search the home<\/h2>\n

Firefighters from Carsonville and Park Rapids responded. A Becker County deputy also arrived.<\/p>\n

Crews entered the home after the report. They located the woman inside.<\/p>\n

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.<\/p>\n

The man was taken by ambulance for treatment. Officials said he had smoke inhalation and possible burns.<\/p>\n

He was transported to CHI St Joseph\u2019s Health<\/a> in Park Rapids.<\/p>\n

Investigation underway<\/h2>\n

Investigators have not said what started the fire. The cause remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

The Becker County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> is handling the case.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal\u2019s Office<\/a> is assisting with the investigation.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said names will be released later. Officials said that will be followed by an autopsy.<\/p>\n

The State Fire Marshal\u2019s office helps local departments with fire investigations. It also shares prevention and safety resources statewide.<\/p>\n

Agencies that responded<\/h2>\n

North Memorial Ambulance also responded to the scene. More information is available at North Memorial Health Ambulance Services<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Carsonville Fire and Rescue also assisted. Officials have not released more details about the fire scene.<\/p>\n

Updates are expected after investigators finish their work. The sheriff\u2019s office has not released a timeline.<\/p>\n
