Becker County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A rural Bagley man has been sentenced in Becker County District Court.<\/p>\n

Patrick Michael Thompson<\/strong>, 31, was sentenced for felony fifth-degree drug possession, court records said.<\/p>\n

Traffic stop and arrest<\/h2>\n

The case began around 3 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2025.<\/p>\n

Deputies stopped a vehicle on County Highway 34 for a bad brake light, records said.<\/p>\n

Thompson was riding in the passenger seat.<\/p>\n

Deputies arrested him on a warrant from Mahnomen County.<\/p>\n

After the arrest, deputies searched the vehicle, records said.<\/p>\n

They found a small glass vial near the passenger seat and center console.<\/p>\n

Records say the vial was found where Thompson had been sitting.<\/p>\n

The vial held a white powdery substance, according to court files.<\/p>\n

A field test said the substance was fentanyl.<\/p>\n

Court records list the weight as 6.86 grams, including packaging.<\/p>\n

Court outcome and sentence<\/h2>\n

On Jan. 6, District Judge Michelle Lawson signed a stay of adjudication in the case.<\/p>\n

That means the court paused a final conviction on the record.<\/p>\n

If probation is completed, the case can be dismissed, records said.<\/p>\n

Thompson was sentenced to 53 days in the Becker County Jail.<\/p>\n

He received credit for 53 days already served.<\/p>\n

The court also ordered a $500 fine and $75 in court fees.<\/p>\n

Records say he must complete a full chemical use assessment.<\/p>\n

He must also complete cognitive skills training.<\/p>\n

He must follow all treatment steps, including aftercare, if ordered.<\/p>\n

The court placed him on supervised probation for five years.<\/p>\n
