Joshua Mark Sorenson<\/strong>, 47, is charged with a felony predatory offender registration violation.<\/p>\n

Court records show the criminal complaint was filed Feb. 5.<\/p>\n

What the complaint says<\/h2>\n

The case began Jan. 13 during a theft investigation, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Sorenson was listed as a suspect in that theft case.<\/p>\n

His ex-wife was named as the alleged theft victim in the filing.<\/p>\n

She told police she made Sorenson leave the home on Dec. 24, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Investigators then reviewed his predatory offender registration, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

They believed his registration address had not been updated after he left.<\/p>\n

Traffic stop and interview<\/h2>\n

Police coordinated with another investigator, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Red Lake Tribal Police stopped Sorenson\u2019s vehicle in the 20500 block of Center Street East.<\/p>\n

He was taken to the Law Enforcement Center, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

In an interview, Sorenson allegedly said he had been away from home for nine days.<\/p>\n

He also allegedly said he considered himself homeless.<\/p>\n

Background and law<\/h2>\n

The complaint lists earlier cases involving Sorenson.<\/p>\n

It says he was convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2015.<\/p>\n

It also says he received a stay of adjudication in April 2023 on a registration case.<\/p>\n
