Prosecutors say Nicholas Shane Larson, 37, entered Moorhead City Hall<\/a> on Dec. 24.<\/p>\n

They say he stayed inside until Dec. 26.<\/p>\n

Two felony burglary counts were filed Feb. 4 in Clay County District Court.<\/p>\n

The case lists one count of second-degree burglary and one count of third-degree burglary.<\/p>\n

What Investigators Allege<\/h2>\n

According to the criminal complaint, workers returned after the holiday break and found signs of entry.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the intruder tried to pull a wall-mounted television loose.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors also say food and drinks were taken from a conference room.<\/p>\n

The complaint says the person urinated in a conference room.<\/p>\n

Documents also say a hat went missing from a law office inside the building.<\/p>\n

Video later showed a man wearing that hat while walking inside City Hall.<\/p>\n

How Police Identified the Suspect<\/h2>\n

Police were called after the delayed report was made on Dec. 29, court records say.<\/p>\n

Investigators reviewed video and followed up on tips, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Police then identified Larson as the suspect, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Court papers say Larson had no permission to be in the building.<\/p>\n

Possible Penalties<\/h2>\n

The most serious count alleges burglary of a government building.<\/p>\n

That second-degree burglary charge carries up to 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n

It also carries a possible $20,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The third-degree burglary charge carries up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n
