Thief River Falls, Pennington County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Yvonne Philipp, 92, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026.<\/p>\n

She lived in Thief River Falls and was formerly from rural Goodridge.<\/p>\n

She was under care at Oakland Park Nursing Home<\/a> and Hospice of the Red River Valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Life in the Thief River Falls area<\/h2>\n

Yvonne Elizabeth Mead was born July 25, 1933, in Grandview, Manitoba.<\/p>\n

Her parents were Dorothy \u201cDolly\u201d (Bounds) Mead and J. O. Mead.<\/p>\n

Her family moved when she was 3.<\/p>\n

They settled on a small farm west of Thief River Falls in Nordan Township.<\/p>\n

She attended country school and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

She was part of the Class of 1951.<\/p>\n

She later earned her GED in 1970.<\/p>\n

She met Vernon Philipp in the late 1940s.<\/p>\n

They married Oct. 22, 1950, at St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church<\/a> in Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

The couple lived briefly in the Twin Cities.<\/p>\n

They later settled on a farm in Grand Plain Township in Marshall County.<\/p>\n

The farm is northeast of Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

They lived there for about 60 years.<\/p>\n

She moved into Thief River Falls in 2013.<\/p>\n

Vernon Philipp died in 2003.<\/p>\n

Work, church, and hobbies<\/h2>\n

The family said Philipp stayed busy through the years.<\/p>\n

She raised four children and kept a large home running.<\/p>\n

She did yard work and garden work.<\/p>\n

She often cooked meals for crews in the field.<\/p>\n

She also helped with planting and harvesting.<\/p>\n

She ran farm equipment and hauled grain.<\/p>\n

In the 1970s, she worked as a teacher\u2019s aide.<\/p>\n

She served at Mark Twain and Knox elementary schools.<\/p>\n

She volunteered with 4-H and church projects.<\/p>\n

She held roles at Silver Creek Church and St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church.<\/p>\n

She also joined area women\u2019s groups.<\/p>\n

She spent many hours crocheting.<\/p>\n

She made blankets, pillows, and wall hangings.<\/p>\n

Family said she earned many ribbons for her work.<\/p>\n

After her children moved away, she started a craft business.<\/p>\n

The business was called Hobbies Etc.<\/p>\n

She sold items at local sites, including the old Rex Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

She also sold at Country Kitchen and Handy Farms.<\/p>\n

She enjoyed flowers and flower arranging.<\/p>\n

She traveled to craft shows and sightseeing.<\/p>\n

She often went with her sister, JoAnn Peters, or friends.<\/p>\n

Her family said her greatest joy was time with family.<\/p>\n

Service details<\/h2>\n

Services are set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.<\/p>\n

The funeral begins at 11 a.m. at St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

Visitation starts at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

Rev. Jeffrey Lytle will officiate.<\/p>\n

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery<\/a> in Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

Survivors<\/h2>\n

Philipp is survived by three sons.<\/p>\n

They are Joe (Sue), Dale (Wendy), and Mike (Becky).<\/p>\n

All live in the Thief River Falls and Goodridge area.<\/p>\n

She is also survived by a son-in-law, Daryl Augustine, of Higginsville, Missouri.<\/p>\n

She leaves eight grandchildren.<\/p>\n

They include Derek (Susan) Augustine and Dana (Randy) Shafer.<\/p>\n

They also include Brad (Kylee), Brent (Crystelle), Sally (Duke) Wolff, Johnny (Kristal), Nolan, and Isaac.<\/p>\n

She also leaves 11 great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n

They are Kayla, Gracie, Adam, Brenden, Allison, Shianne, Riley, Carlye, Elliot, Norah, and Jed.<\/p>\n

She is also survived by her sister, JoAnn Peters, of Viking and Thief River Falls.<\/p>\n

She is survived by her brother, Frank (Jean) Mead, of Lakeville.<\/p>\n

She was preceded in death by her parents.<\/p>\n

She was preceded by her husband, Vernon, in 2003.<\/p>\n

She was preceded by her daughter, Paulette Augustine, in 2023.<\/p>\n

She was also preceded by many relatives.<\/p>\n
