Dunn County (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Two drivers died in a head-on crash on ND Highway 22 near Killdeer.<\/p>\n

The wreck happened on Thursday, February 5, 2026.<\/p>\n

Troopers were called at about 5:45 a.m. Mountain Time.<\/p>\n

That was about 6:45 a.m. Central Time.<\/p>\n

The crash site was near mile marker 123.5.<\/p>\n

It was about 17 miles north of Killdeer.<\/p>\n

Roads were wet at the time.<\/p>\n

The weather was reported as dry.<\/p>\n

The crash involved two commercial vehicles.<\/p>\n

What happened<\/h2>\n

Investigators say a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling south.<\/p>\n

The truck was hauling production water.<\/p>\n

A 57-year-old man from Watford City was driving.<\/p>\n

The Highway Patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n

A 2019 Kenworth was traveling north.<\/p>\n

It carried a hot oil tank.<\/p>\n

It was towing a pup trailer.<\/p>\n

The pup trailer also carried production water.<\/p>\n

A 51-year-old man from Dickinson was driving.<\/p>\n

Restraint use in that truck is still under review.<\/p>\n

Troopers say the Volvo crossed the center line on a curve.<\/p>\n

It struck the Kenworth head-on.<\/p>\n

Both drivers died at the scene.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not released the drivers\u2019 names.<\/p>\n

Officials reported a small spill of production water.<\/p>\n

Crews worked to secure the area.<\/p>\n

They also handled cleanup needs.<\/p>\n

Road closure<\/h2>\n

Highway 22 northbound was closed after the crash.<\/p>\n

The closure ran from mile marker 119 to mile marker 130.<\/p>\n

The road reopened around 3:00 p.m. Mountain Time.<\/p>\n

Agencies on scene<\/h2>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.<\/p>\n

The Dunn County Sheriff\u2019s Office also responded.<\/p>\n

Killdeer Ambulance assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

West Dunn Fire Department also responded.<\/p>\n

The Dunn County Emergency Manager was notified.<\/p>\n
