Willmar, Kandiyohi County (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A Willmar man is charged after a shoplifting case at Target.<\/p>\n

Police say he showed a pocketknife during the confrontation.<\/p>\n

Peter Villarreal Alfred-Iturbe, 21, of Willmar, is charged in Kandiyohi County Court.<\/p>\n

Police say the incident happened on January 26, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Officers were sent to the Target store in Willmar<\/a> after a theft report.<\/p>\n

What the police say happened<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, a store security officer saw Alfred-Iturbe hide items.<\/p>\n

The officer said he tried to stop him near the exit.<\/p>\n

Police say Alfred-Iturbe pulled out a pocketknife and held it near his waist.<\/p>\n

The knife was about seven inches long when open.<\/p>\n

The security officer backed away and called the police.<\/p>\n

Police say Alfred-Iturbe ran out of the store.<\/p>\n

Officers found him near the PetSmart parking lot, police said.<\/p>\n

Investigators say he had stolen items with him.<\/p>\n

They listed two bras and three hair care products.<\/p>\n

The items were valued at about $70.96, police said.<\/p>\n

Police say Alfred-Iturbe tried to run again during the arrest.<\/p>\n

They say he moved between police cars and broke free.<\/p>\n

Officers caught him within moments, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Charges filed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Alfred-Iturbe with felony Threats of Violence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The case lists the \u201creckless disregard\u201d part of that law.<\/p>\n

He also faces misdemeanor theft<\/a> for the store items.<\/p>\n

He is also charged with misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer<\/a> on foot.<\/p>\n

Bail and court dates<\/h2>\n

Judge Rodney Clay Hanson set bail at $0 with conditions, court records say.<\/p>\n

Those conditions include staying law-abiding and making all court dates.<\/p>\n

The judge also set an option of $50,000 cash or bond.<\/p>\n

That option allows release without conditions, according to the order.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Alfred-Iturbe admitted he was high during the incident.<\/p>\n

Police say he did not name the substance.<\/p>\n

The alleged offense date is January 26, 2026.<\/p>\n

The case was filed on January 28, 2026.<\/p>\n
