Crookston, Polk County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Red Lake man is charged with a gas station car theft.<\/p>\n

Keenan Klayton Konrad Beaulieu, 26, of Red Lake, is charged with felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

The count is listed under Minnesota Statute 609.52<\/a>, subdivision 2(a)(17).<\/p>\n

What happened<\/h2>\n

According to the complaint, the theft happened on January 1, 2026, at about 9:20 pm.<\/p>\n

The victim stopped at the M & H gas station<\/a> in Crookston.<\/p>\n

He left his gold 2004 Dodge Intrepid running and unlocked.<\/p>\n

The keys were in the ignition.<\/p>\n

He went inside for about 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

When he returned, the car was gone.<\/p>\n

The victim reported the theft soon after, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Police reviewed security video from the store.<\/p>\n

The video shows a man in a dark winter coat entering the car.<\/p>\n

The man then drives away.<\/p>\n

How police found the car<\/h2>\n

Investigators say Beaulieu was released from the Northwest Regional Corrections Center<\/a> earlier that day.<\/p>\n

They also say he was seen at a nearby assistance center.<\/p>\n

He was wearing a black and purple jacket, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

On January 5, 2026, detectives received an update from the Minneapolis Police Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police in Minneapolis had located the Dodge during a stop, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

They reported Beaulieu was driving the stolen car.<\/p>\n

He was arrested in Minneapolis on a related stolen property case.<\/p>\n

The Crookston case was later tied to that stop, investigators said.<\/p>\n

Court status<\/h2>\n

A court filing dated January 6, 2026, lists the Crookston charge as a felony.<\/p>\n

Judge Anne Rasmusson set bail at $0 with conditions.<\/p>\n

The judge ordered Beaulieu held for court.<\/p>\n

The filing also lists prior convictions.<\/p>\n
