Detroit Lakes, Becker County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Detroit Lakes man faces two felony DWI counts.<\/p>\n

Samuel Allen Stone, 65, is charged with two counts of first-degree DWI in Becker County District Court.<\/p>\n

What prosecutors allege<\/h2>\n

Court records say a hit-and-run crash happened on December 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

The crash was reported during the afternoon in Detroit Lakes.<\/p>\n

A witness saw the crash and followed the suspect vehicle.<\/p>\n

The witness shared the license plate number with a dispatcher, records say.<\/p>\n

An officer later spotted the vehicle and stopped it on Oak Street East.<\/p>\n

Records describe a strong odor of alcohol during the stop.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Stone\u2019s eyes looked red and watery.<\/p>\n

It also says his speech sounded slurred.<\/p>\n

Stone told officers he did not have a driver\u2019s license, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Investigators reported damage to the vehicle\u2019s front left fender.<\/p>\n

When asked about the crash, Stone first blamed another driver, records say.<\/p>\n

He later admitted the crash was his fault, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Stone told officers he drank about four beers, court records say.<\/p>\n

He later said he drank too much, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

He was taken to jail after the traffic stop.<\/p>\n
