Becker County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Fargo man faces a felony drug charge after a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Dustin Alexander Vines, 30, of Fargo, is charged in Becker County District Court.<\/p>\n

The charge is a fifth-degree controlled substance crime, listed as a felony.<\/p>\n

What deputies reported<\/h2>\n

Court records describe a traffic stop from Dec. 20, 2025.<\/p>\n

A deputy was on County Highway 14 near County Highway 9.<\/p>\n

The deputy saw a vehicle stop on the gravel shoulder.<\/p>\n

The vehicle then went dark, with its lights off.<\/p>\n

The deputy spoke with the people inside, records say.<\/p>\n

The deputy reported several small alcohol “shooter” bottles in the back seat.<\/p>\n

The deputy also reported smelling alcohol in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

One bottle was half empty, with the cap still on.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Vines had glossy, bloodshot eyes.<\/p>\n

Vines told the deputy he had drunk alcohol earlier that day.<\/p>\n

Search of the vehicle<\/h2>\n

Records say the passenger was arrested on an active warrant.<\/p>\n

Vines stepped out for field sobriety testing.<\/p>\n

Deputies then searched the vehicle, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

During the search, deputies reported finding an open Twisted Tea bottle.<\/p>\n

The bottle was under the passenger seat, records say.<\/p>\n

Deputies also reported a plastic bag under the driver’s seat.<\/p>\n

The bag held a white powder, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Suspected cocaine and next court date<\/h2>\n

Investigators field-tested the powder during the stop, records say.<\/p>\n

The test was positive for cocaine, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The substance weighed 1.21 grams, including packaging, records say.<\/p>\n

Vines denied the cocaine was his, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Court records say Vines was released on Dec. 22, 2025.<\/p>\n

He was released without bail, under standard conditions.<\/p>\n

His first appearance is set for Feb. 23 in Detroit Lakes.<\/p>\n

District Judge Gretchen Thilmony is scheduled to preside.<\/p>\n
