What police allege<\/h2>\n

Jessica Lynn McLean, 44, of Bemidji, is charged in Beltrami County court.<\/p>\n

The charges include a felony third-degree assault count and a misdemeanor obstruction count.<\/p>\n

According to the criminal complaint, officers were sent to a home in the 800 block of America Avenue NW.<\/p>\n

The call came in around 9:30 p.m. on January 19, 2026.<\/p>\n

Police were told a woman broke a mirror and threatened others with glass pieces.<\/p>\n

Officers found a woman with heavy bleeding and swelling near her left eye.<\/p>\n

The woman told police she was hit with an object in a dark room.<\/p>\n

She could not clearly identify what struck her, the complaint said.<\/p>\n

Arrest details<\/h2>\n

Police located McLean shortly after the report.<\/p>\n

The complaint says McLean claimed she acted in self-defense during a dispute.<\/p>\n

Officers reported she did not speak in clear, complete sentences.<\/p>\n

Police also reported finding a broken mirror near her belongings.<\/p>\n

When told she was under arrest, the complaint says she resisted and pulled away.<\/p>\n

Officers took her to the ground to apply handcuffs, according to the filing.<\/p>\n

Charges and court status<\/h2>\n

McLean is charged with Third-Degree Assault \u2013 Substantial Bodily Harm under Minn. Stat. \u00a7 609.223<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She is also charged with Obstruct Legal Process \u2013 Interfere with a Peace Officer under Minn. Stat. \u00a7 609.50<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint was filed on January 20, 2026, one day after the alleged incident.<\/p>\n

The filing says McLean is being held under an order of detention.<\/p>\n

The complaint also notes a prior record that includes violence-related convictions.<\/p>\n
