Fargo, Cass County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me)\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0A Fargo woman charged with attempted murder will undergo court-ordered mental health treatment.<\/p>\n

Investigators say Lena Deoliveira struck her boyfriend with a hatchet while he slept.<\/p>\n

Court Orders Treatment<\/h2>\n

Court documents say Deoliveira was found not fit to proceed after an exam on Jan. 14.<\/p>\n

A report filed Jan. 21 said she is not competent right now.<\/p>\n

The report said she may be restored within the time allowed under North Dakota law.<\/p>\n

Judge Ryan Younggren ordered the case paused while treatment happens.<\/p>\n

The judge also ordered Deoliveira sent to the North Dakota State Hospital for restoration care.<\/p>\n

The commitment can last up to 180 days.<\/p>\n

The court said it is unlikely she can pay for treatment.<\/p>\n

The judge approved public spending to cover the cost.<\/p>\n

The hospital must file a restoration report within 45 days.<\/p>\n

It must then file a report every 30 days after that.<\/p>\n

What Police Allege<\/h2>\n

The criminal case started with a reported attack on Sept. 5.<\/p>\n

Police say it happened in the 700 block of 14th Street North in Fargo.<\/p>\n

Investigators say the victim suffered a large cut to his head.<\/p>\n

Court records say he also needed surgery on his fingers.<\/p>\n

Deoliveira was arrested two days later in Moorhead, Minnesota.<\/p>\n

She faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.<\/p>\n

What Happens Next<\/h2>\n

The case remains on hold while doctors work on restoration treatment.<\/p>\n

A review hearing is expected after the required reports reach the court.<\/p>\n

The Cass County Sheriff\u2019s Department will transport Deoliveira when a bed is available.<\/p>\n

Officials must move her within 24 hours after they get a bed notice.<\/p>\n
