Bemidji, Beltrami County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A 24-year-old Bemidji man is charged with a gross misdemeanor DWI.<\/p>\n

Details of the incident<\/h2>\n

Court papers say D. Seki crashed a car into a ditch early Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Deputies were sent to Irvine Avenue and Island View Drive at about 1:17 a.m. on January 14, 2026.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Seki got out and walked toward law enforcement.<\/p>\n

A deputy reported Seki nearly fell while walking.<\/p>\n

The deputy also reported slurred speech and poor balance.<\/p>\n

The complaint says vomit was visible on Seki\u2019s clothes.<\/p>\n

The deputy reported bloodshot eyes and a strong smell of alcohol.<\/p>\n

Seki told the deputy he had \u201ca few drinks,\u201d according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Testing and charge<\/h2>\n

A roadside breath test showed 0.217, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

Deputies did not run standard field tests because of the cold.<\/p>\n

Wind chill was about minus 23 degrees, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Seki lacked proper winter clothing.<\/p>\n

Seki was arrested and taken to the Beltrami County Jail, court papers say.<\/p>\n

A final breath test there showed 0.23, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Minnesota law sets the adult limit at 0.08.<\/p>\n

The charge cites Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>, subdivision 1(5).<\/p>\n

That section covers driving at 0.08 within two hours.<\/p>\n

Records also show Seki was driving on a revoked license, the complaint says.<\/p>\n

The revocation followed an impaired driving case in May 2025, records show.<\/p>\n

Court and bail<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors filed the case on January 15, 2026.<\/p>\n

Judge Annie P. Claesson-Huseby set conditional bail at $6,000, court records show.<\/p>\n

The judge also set $12,000 for release without conditions.<\/p>\n

Conditions include obeying the law and making all court dates.<\/p>\n

An Order of Detention was issued on January 15, 2026.<\/p>\n
