East Grand Forks, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Blizzard conditions slowed crews responding to a garage fire northeast of East Grand Forks on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The East Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 13926 410th Ave. SW<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Firefighters found a detached garage that was about 20 feet by 40 feet.<\/p>\n

Heavy smoke was pushing from the eaves when crews arrived.<\/p>\n

Firefighters started an aggressive attack right away.<\/p>\n

The fire was reported under control within about 15 minutes of arrival.<\/p>\n

Response<\/h2>\n

Assistant Fire Chief Paul Hansen said the department responded with two engines.<\/p>\n

A water tender was also sent to the scene.<\/p>\n

Hansen said a total of 29 personnel were involved.<\/p>\n

Altru Ambulance<\/a> provided medical support.<\/p>\n

The Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

Damage estimate<\/h2>\n

Hansen said parts of the garage had significant fire damage.<\/p>\n

Smoke damage was found throughout the building.<\/p>\n

The estimated loss was about $30,000<\/strong>, he said.<\/p>\n

That estimate included the structure and its contents.<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Cause ruled electrical<\/h2>\n

Hansen said the cause was electrical in nature.<\/p>\n

Investigators said the issue ignited nearby items that could burn.<\/p>\n

The fire department did not release a specific source of the electrical failure.<\/p>\n

Officials also did not report any nearby structures damaged.<\/p>\n

The weather slowed travel<\/h2>\n

Blowing snow and strong winds made roads hazardous.<\/p>\n

Those conditions can delay fire and medical response.<\/p>\n
