rel=\"noopener\">(trfnews.i234.me)\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 Family and friends in Marshall County are remembering Edward \u201cEd\u201d Turn.<br \/>\nHe was 79 and died unexpectedly on Thursday morning, November 20, 2025.<br \/>\nHis passing came at Encompass Health in Grand Forks, North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Centered Photo \/ Mugshot-style Placement --><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center; margin: was born on October 22, 1946, in Crookston, Minnesota.<br \/>\nHis parents were Edwin and Inez (Anderson) Turn.<br \/>\nEd grew up in Thief River Falls and attended local schools.<br \/>\nHe graduated from Thief River Falls High School in 1964.<\/p>\n<p>After high school, he studied finance at AVTI in Thief River Falls.<br \/>\nHe later continued his banking education.<br \/>\nIn 1984, Ed graduated from the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin\u2013Madison.<br \/>\nMore information about that program is available from the\u00a0UW\u2013Madison Graduate School of Banking.<\/p>\n<h2>Marriage, Family, and Early Banking Years<\/h2>\n<p>On July 25, 1970, Ed married Linda Engelstad.<br \/>\nThe wedding took place at Grace United Methodist Church in Warren.<br \/>\nDetails about that denomination can be found on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.umc.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Methodist Church website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ed and Linda made their home in Warren for 30 years.<br \/>\nThey raised two sons, Scott and Jeffrey.<br \/>\nHe began his career at Crookston National Bank.<br \/>\nHe later joined the State Bank of Warren, now part of Bremer.<br \/>\nHe worked there for more than three decades.<\/p>\n<h2>Moves to Roseau and Thief River Falls<\/h2>\n<p>In 2000, Ed and Linda moved to Roseau.<br \/>\nEd served as president of Border State Bank for four years.<br \/>\nInformation on that institution is available through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.borderstatebank.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Border State Bank website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He later finished his career at Unity Bank in Red Lake Falls and Thief River Falls.<br \/>\nAfter 54 years in banking, Ed retired in 2019.<br \/>\nCo-workers recall his calm style, careful work, and steady leadership.<\/p>\n<h2>Service, Volunteering, and Community Roles<\/h2>\n<p>Serving others was central to Ed\u2019s life.<br \/>\nHe was a longtime member of the Warren Ambulance Corps and once served as president.<br \/>\nHe also served on the Grace United Methodist Church Board.<br \/>\nHis volunteer work reached many local groups and boards.<\/p>\n<p>Ed served on the Marshall County Fair Board and the Good Samaritan Center Advisory Board.<br \/>\nHe also helped the Marshall County DAC and the Northwest Regional Development Board.<br \/>\nHe sat on the Warren Star City Commission and helped shape community projects.<br \/>\nHe was a founding member of the Warren Jaycees.<br \/>\nHe received the Outstanding Young Man of America Award in 1982.<\/p>\n<p>Ed also served as treasurer of the WAO Booster Club.<br \/>\nHe chaired the ODC board until his death.<br \/>\nEd was an active Lions Club member in Warren, Roseau, Red Lake Falls, and website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Sports, Family Time a,nd the Outdoors<\/h2>\n<p>Ed loved sports and followed many local teams.<br \/>\nHe attended games for his children and later his grandchildren.<br \/>\nIf he was not at a game, he listened on the radio or watched on television.<\/p>\n<p>He enjoyed time with family and watching his grandchildren grow.<br \/>\nHe followed their activities and sporting events with pride.<br \/>\nHis favorite tradition was an annual fishing trip to Lake of the Woods.<br \/>\nHe went there with his sons and grandchildren.<br \/>\nThey made many memories and plenty of fishing stories.<\/p>\n<p>Ed also loved to hunt with his sons and grandson.<br \/>\nHe joined a hunting crew he had known for decades.<br \/>\nFamily members say those trips were highlights of his year.<\/p>\n<h2>Caregiving and the Family He Leaves Behind<\/h2>\n<p>Ed was a strong caregiver for Linda in recent years.<br \/>\nWhen his own health failed in August, Linda helped care for him in return.<br \/>\nThey met while working at a bank.<br \/>\nThey shared 55 years of marriage and built a family they loved deeply.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Linda, Ed is survived by his sons,<br \/>\nScott (Christie) Turn of Bemidji and Jeffrey (Lisa) Turn of East Grand Forks.<br \/>\nGrandchildren are Mackenzie (Ethan) Granger, Mariah Page, Jordis Turn,<br \/>\nCarson Turn and Peyton Turn.<br \/>\nGreat-grandchildren are Miles, Wrenley, and Axel Granger.<\/p>\n<p>He is also survived by nieces and nephews:<br \/>\nJon Lehtinen, Tracy Lehtinen, Vickie (Matthew) Temple,<br \/>\nCorey (Shanon) Spilde and Elizabeth (Mike) Rowe.<br \/>\nMany great-nieces and great-nephews also survive him.<\/p>\n<p>Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Trudy (Rayno) Lehtinen.<br \/>\nHe was also preceded by his parents, Edwin and Inez Turn.<br \/>\nIn-laws Wells \u201cBunty\u201d and Lorene Engelstad, and sister-in-law Judi (Craig) Spilde, also passed before him.<\/p>\n<h2>Funeral, Burial, and Online Guestbook<\/h2>\n<p>Funeral services for Ed Turn will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.<br \/>\nServices will take place at Our Savior\u2019s Lutheran Church in Warren.<br \/>\nPastor James Crandall of Grace United Methodist Church will preside.<br \/>\nInformation about Our Savior\u2019s and other Lutheran congregations is available from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elca.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Evangelical Lutheran Church in America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held one hour before the service.<br \/>\nInterment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.<br \/>\nFuneral arrangements are with DuBore Funeral Home of Warren.<br \/>\nAn online guestbook is available at\u00a0<a
