Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 Grand Forks police have released the identity.<\/p>\n

They said a man was found dead in the Greenway area.<\/p>\n

Police identified the man as 34-year-old Brandon Ruth of Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

Where and when he was found<\/h2>\n

Police said a passerby called at about 2:07 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.<\/p>\n

The caller reported an unresponsive man south of the railroad bridge.<\/p>\n

The location was in the Greenway area of Grand Forks.<\/p>\n

Officers arrived and found Ruth face down in the snow.<\/p>\n

Ruth was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Police said no life-saving steps were taken.<\/p>\n

Cause of death still unknown<\/h2>\n

Police said early findings did not show obvious trauma.<\/p>\n

They said the scene did not show a clear cause of death.<\/p>\n

Cold temperatures also limited what could be done outside.<\/p>\n

Police said a complete body exam was not done at the scene.<\/p>\n

A medical exam is pending.<\/p>\n

That exam will help confirm the cause and manner of death.<\/p>\n

In North Dakota, county cases may involve the State Forensic Examiner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police say there is no known threat<\/h2>\n
