What the police say happened<\/h2>\n

According to a probable cause statement, officers were sent to a home near South Sheridan Street around 11:21 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10. The call was reported as a stabbing.<\/p>\n

Police said they saw movement inside a detached garage. Officers knocked on the garage door. They were met by Alexander Sian-Gonzalez, the defendant.<\/p>\n

Police said he was unsteady on his feet. They said he appeared intoxicated. Police also reported seeing a pair of scissors in his pocket.<\/p>\n

Police arrested Sian-Gonzalez at the scene. Officers then checked the nearby home, police said.<\/p>\n

Victim found inside the home<\/h2>\n

Inside, police said they met a witness with blood on his clothes and hands. The witness led officers toward the front of the house, police said.<\/p>\n

Officers found a man lying on the floor. Police later identified him as Sian-Gonzalez\u2019s brother-in-law.<\/p>\n

Police said the victim was alive and awake. Police said he had multiple stab wounds to his back. Officers gave aid until paramedics arrived, police said.<\/p>\n

The victim survived, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Charges filed<\/h2>\n

Sian-Gonzalez is now charged with second-degree attempted murder. He also faces a first-degree assault charge. Additional charges include assault and domestic assault.<\/p>\n

The probable cause statement notes an argument happened before the stabbing. The report does not clearly state what the argument was about.<\/p>\n

All charges are allegations. The case will move through the court process.<\/p>\n
