Hubbard County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A disturbing cross-country theft case led to the arrest of Anne Ryan Phillips, 24, of Fruita, Colorado, in Akeley, Minnesota, on July 3, 2025. Phillips now faces two felony counts of receiving stolen property after being found with a stolen U-Haul truck and camper, according to court documents.

The incident unfolded after Phillips’ mother reported receiving a text from her daughter claiming her boyfriend, Michael Allen Stevens, was trying to kill her. Deputies tracked the pair to a property near 375 Graceson Avenue South, where they found the stolen U-Haul with Arizona plates and a camper, both confirmed stolen from Illinois and Wyoming, respectively.

Phillips admitted to deputies that Stevens wouldn’t let her return the U-Haul and that he stole the camper from someone’s driveway. Law enforcement valued the U-Haul at $30,000 and the camper at $26,818.

Both were taken into custody without incident. Authorities believe that if released, the duo may continue engaging in criminal activity nationwide.
