According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 1996 Peterbilt semi-truck was traveling south on 134th Avenue NW when a 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup entered the intersection from the east. The pickup failed to stop at a posted stop sign on 54th Street NW and was struck by the semi.
The driver of the semi, a 29-year-old man from Lambert, Montana, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 23-year-old man from Grand Junction, Colorado, was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries in the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews from the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Ambulance, and the Williston Fire Department assisted at the crash site. Road and weather conditions were reported as good at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed against the semi driver.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Authorities emphasize the importance of seatbelt use, noting that failure to buckle up remains a leading factor in roadway fatalities across the state.
