GRAND FORKS, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks man is facing criminal charges after police say he was caught inside another man’s apartment early Monday morning.
According to court documents, Mustafa Shuwaili of Grand Forks has been charged with felony criminal trespass following an incident that occurred around 12:50 a.m. on October 28.
Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex after a resident, who was in the process of moving out, discovered a man inside his unit. Police identified the individual as Shuwaili.
Investigators say security video from the building showed Shuwaili entering the complex multiple times before the incident, suggesting repeated unauthorized access. The victim told officers he did not know the suspect and had not permitted him to enter the apartment.
Shuwaili was arrested at the scene without incident and later booked into the Grand Forks County Jail. He now faces a felony charge of criminal trespass, which carries potential prison time if convicted.
The Grand Forks Police Department is continuing to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses as part of the investigation.
