Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) – Matthew Joel Larson, 42, of White Earth, has been sentenced for gross misdemeanor fourth-degree burglary in Becker County District Court following a Walmart theft incident.
The case stems from a March 4 investigation where Detroit Lakes police reviewed surveillance showing Larson stealing about $20 in merchandise. The officer identified him due to prior contacts.
Notably, Larson had been trespassed from Walmart on July 8, 2024, and was previously convicted of burglary in 2023.
As part of a plea agreement, a felony third-degree burglary charge was dismissed. On May 21, Judge Gretchen Thilmony sentenced Larson to 364 days in jail, with 65 days credited and 299 days stayed for two years of probation.
He must also pay $21.20 in restitution, $210 in total fines, and obey no-trespassing orders.
