White Earth Man Charged With Felony Domestic Assault

WHITE EARTH, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me— A White Earth man is facing serious felony charges following a domestic violence incident. According to Becker County District Court records, Aaron Louis Thompson, 25, has been charged with felony domestic assault and felony assault after an altercation at a residence in White Earth.

Police were dispatched to the home after receiving a report that Thompson had assaulted his girlfriend. A man at the scene told officers he became upset after witnessing the assault and tried to intervene, prompting Thompson to attack him. According to the criminal complaint, Thompson allegedly grabbed the man by the neck, tore his shirt, and punched him in the back of the head.

The same witness told police that Thompson had grabbed his girlfriend by the hair, dragged her around the residence, and slapped her. The woman confirmed to officers that she had been assaulted, saying she and Thompson had been in an on-and-off relationship for about nine years. Officers noted the torn shirt, physical marks, and other signs of a struggle at the scene.

Court documents indicate Thompson has two prior assault convictions from 2023, elevating both current charges to felonies under Minnesota law. On October 8, bail was set at $35,000 without conditions, or $20,000 cash or bond with standard conditions including no alcohol use, random testing, and compliance with court orders.

Thompson was also ordered to have no contact with the victims and must stay at least 500 feet away from their residence. He may return once with a police escort to collect personal belongings. A Domestic Abuse No-Contact Order (DANCO) has been issued.

Thompson’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 27 before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony.
