FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) – In Cass County District Court, West Fargo resident Spencer Moen was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the murder of his wife, Sonja Moen.
During the sentencing, family members of the victim provided statements detailing the impact of her death on their lives and the lives of the Moens’ three children. Each family member advocated for the maximum sentence.
Moen’s defense attorneys had proposed a 20-year prison term. However, Judge Nicholas Chase noted that Moen had multiple opportunities to cease his assault on Sonja or to seek medical assistance while she was incapacitated in the bathtub.
Following his conviction in October, Moen’s attorney, Richard Varianno, indicated potential grounds for an appeal based on issues related to the evidence presented during the trial.
